Frequently asked questions

Is TrackPilot really free?
Yes. TrackPilot is 100% free with no subscription, no watermark and no time limit. Donations are optional and only support development.
Which cameras does TrackPilot work with?
It controls Panasonic PTZ cameras (such as the AW-UE150) via their native protocol, and almost any other PTZ camera through VISCA-over-IP, including Sony, PTZOptics, Lumens, BirdDog and Aver. Camera control runs over your network.
What do I need to run it?
A Windows PC and a video feed from your camera, either over NDI or through an HDMI/SDI capture card. The camera is then controlled over the network, so no extra hardware is required for tracking.
How does the automatic tracking work?
TrackPilot uses AI person detection to find people in the video feed. You select your subject in one click, and the app smoothly pans, tilts and zooms the camera to keep them framed in real time, with adjustable speed and smoothness.
How is it different from PTZOptics or Panasonic auto-tracking?
Most auto-tracking solutions are tied to one camera brand and sold as a paid add-on. TrackPilot is brand-agnostic (it works across your whole mixed fleet over open protocols) and completely free.
Does it work with NDI, HDMI and SDI?
Yes. You can use an NDI source or an HDMI/SDI capture card as the video input, selectable in the settings. RTSP input is planned for a future update.
Is there a Mac version?
TrackPilot is currently Windows-only. A macOS version is on the roadmap based on community demand.
Why does Windows warn that TrackPilot is from an unknown publisher?
Because TrackPilot is a young independent app and its installer is not code-signed with a paid certificate yet. Windows SmartScreen shows this warning for any app from a publisher it does not recognize, signed or not. It does NOT mean TrackPilot is unsafe or a virus. Just click "More info" then "Run anyway" to install. A signing certificate is on our roadmap to remove the warning as the app builds reputation.
